Roles: Co -researcher - Lead UX designer
Responsibilities: User research and analysis for the competitors and users, wireframe and Figma prototyping
SCOPE
2nd-year university project focusing on mental health for patients in hospitals for long periods of time. In this project, my teams and I researched the impact of long-term stay in hospitals. We discovered that patients were more likely to develop boredom and loneliness due to limited connections to the outside world. The project would aim to reduce mental health through help patients connect with other patients through an internal social media platform.
We would:
Research analysis on potential users and competitors to find our market
Create an identifiable brand design
Initial designs in reparation for a mobile application. This would be utilising wireframes and a final high-fidelity prototype.

The problem….?
To Create a website that aides patients with mental health when staying in hospitals for long term
Patients in long-term hospital stays are more likely to develop mental health issues We were tasked with creating an application that would allow patients to escape from feeling isolated and lonely through social interaction.
While also giving people the benefit of brain stimulation which will help with recovery and mental health.
Ethical issues regarding Communicare was the issues of vulnerable patients using social media
Communicate would have to be monitored by hospital staff or volunteers to ensure that there are no privacy breaches or other issues regarding bullying or exclusion.
Other issues
•Privacy from user to user.
•Privacy when being supervised.
•App could worsen mental health or lead to other patients feeling left out.
•Patients may have restrictions
•Finance to moderate and plan events.
The solution
Our main issue was creating a community for patients that would provide stimulation to help relieve boredom. To do this we incorporated games and social media where users can join groups in the hospital (such as wards they are on) and communicate and play games with other patients. Users will be given a passcode linked to their hospital number to gain access, this will be deleted once the patient has left the hospital.
